A 10,000-meter-long peony scroll painting led by a painter from Luoyang recorded in the Guinness World Records

on April 15th, at the Lu Hun Lake in Song County, the 10,000-meter-long scroll painting “National Beauty Peonies Bloom in the Lake City”, led by Luoyang-based peony painter Zhang zhiwen, was officially recorded in the Guinness World Records of Shanghai as “the longest cumulative peony painting scroll”, adding luster to the Peony Culture Festival.

“Every stroke of ink is a declaration of love for one’s homeland.” As a native of Song County, three years ago, Zhang Zhiwen led 79 peony painters from 20 provinces across the country to infuse the cultural genes of the River Luo into a canvas of 103 million square centimeters. “This three-year-long artistic creation not only brought new vitality to peony culture but also explored a Song County path for art to empower rural revitalization.” Zhang Zhiwen succinctly expressed the original intention of the creation.

At the event site, this art extravaganza gave rise to a unique immersive experience: visitors strolled through the 3D murals of “Peony Lane”, pausing to listen to villagers reciting peony-themed poetry; at the cultural and creative market, peony porcelain vases and tie-dyed scarves collided to create a new wave of traditional Chinese culture, and intangible cultural heritage inheritors demonstrated the firing techniques of Tang Tri-color on the spot…

In recent years, Song County has earnestly implemented the deployment and requirements of the municipal committee, adhered to the concept of contiguous development, and accelerated the transformation from a “mountain city” to a “lake city”. The integrated development of agriculture, culture and tourism around Lu Hun Lake has been full of highlights, achieving a new leap from “beauty in one area” to “beauty in the whole”.
