Recently, over 120 pieces (sets) of exquisite Tang Dynasty artifacts from Luoyang are on display at the Anqing Museum in Anhui Province, systematically showcasing the historical features and cultural achievements of Luoyang, the eastern capital of the Tang Dynasty.

This exhibition is a major special event launched by Anqing Museum this year. The 124 pieces (sets) of Tang Dynasty artifacts from Luoyang on display are from Luoyang Museum, Longmen Grottoes Research Institute and Yanshi Museum. The exhibits cover various categories such as ceramics, bronzes, gold and silver wares, and stone inscriptions. They vividly depict the prosperous scene of Luoyang City in the Tang Dynasty and reflect the glorious achievements of Luoyang in the Tang Dynasty in politics, economy, culture and art. It builds a bridge for the audience to touch the civilization of the Eastern Capital of the Tang Dynasty.

This exhibition is divided into three sections: “The Imperial City of Luoyang in the Tang Dynasty”, “Prosperity and Harmony – Social Life in the Tang Dynasty”, and “Spiritual Home – Religious Beliefs and Burial Customs of the Tang People”. Through a combination of cultural relics and text and image displays, it comprehensively recreates the urban layout, social life, and spiritual world of Luoyang in the Tang Dynasty. It profoundly interprets the open and integrated scene of “foreign music, foreign horses and foreign makeup, all competing in a riot of colors for fifty years”, highlighting the profound and inclusive nature of Chinese civilization.

Wang Hongxing, the director of Anqing Museum, said that this exhibition aims to allow citizens of Anqing and tourists to appreciate the unique charm of the culture of the Tang Dynasty, deepen their understanding and recognition of ancient Chinese history and civilization, have a clearer understanding of the development process of Chinese civilization that is diverse and integrated, and inclusive, and enhance cultural confidence.

The exhibition will run until March 10, 2026.
