Luoyang’s Western Zhou Copper Damloup Spotlights at China’s Spring Festival Gala

Recently, China Media Group releases the mascot image for the 2026 Spring Festival Gala. Four horses named “Qi Qi”, “Ji Ji”, “Chi Chi” and “Cheng Cheng” made their official debut. Among them, the headgear “danglu” worn by “Qi Qi” is inspired by a Western Zhou Dynasty copper damloup unearthed in Luoyang.

The overall design inspiration of “Qi Qi” comes from the Zhou Dynasty’s Li Ju Zun, a bronze ware unearthed in Yangjia Village, Mei County, Baoji, Shaanxi Province in 1955, which is now housed in the National Museum of China. The headgear decoration, the danglu, worn by “Qi Qi” is directly based on a copper damloup unearthed in Luoyang from the Western Zhou Dynasty.
