Yibin District: Smart systems turn tomato farming into “data watching”

The Yibin District’s Luoyang International Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Zone has introduced the French Saopolo cherry tomato variety. It empowers the cultivation with standardized procedures and smart systems – through environmental control, soilless cultivation, precise drip irrigation and IoT monitoring, achieving tomato planting based on “data” rather than “experience”.

At present, the tomato harvest in this demonstration area reaches 18 tons per week and is sold well in many places. Through the “company + cooperative + farmer” model, this project has absorbed over a hundred local people for nearby employment and increased their income. This is a microcosm of Yibin District’s development of modern agriculture through scientific and technological innovation. In the future, the local area will continue to extend the industrial chain, promote the implementation of smart agriculture, and contribute to rural revitalization.
