New Year Visions: A Woodblock Print Journey Along the Grand Canal

The exhibition “New Year Pictures for Good Fortune – Art of the Grand Canal Woodblock New Year Pictures” recently opened at the Luoyang Sui-Tang Grand Canal Culture Museum and will run until February 23rd.

This exhibition brings together images of woodblock New Year paintings from various places along the Grand Canal, including Suzhou Taohuawu, Tianjin Yangliuqing, and Kaifeng Zhuxian Town, systematically showcasing their diverse features. The exhibition is divided into three chapters: “New Year Celebrations in New Year Paintings”, “Homophonic Wishes in New Year Paintings”, and “The Human World in New Year Paintings”, covering a wide range of subjects such as door gods, auspicious symbols, and life scenes, presenting the cultural connotations and artistic characteristics of woodblock New Year paintings.(Reporter Liu Jiayi, Correspondent Cao Hu)
