Over the Yellow River: Egrets in Flight, Nature in Balance

June 5 is World Environment Day. In early summer, the section of the Yellow River in Shijing Town, Xin’an County, offers a delightful scenery. On steep cliffs, flocks of egrets gracefully soar, nest, raise their young, and rest. Nearby, the Jixin Expressway’s Three Gorges Bridge over the Yellow River spans the two banks, already open to traffic. Together with the egrets and the river, it forms a harmonious picture of coexistence between humanity and nature, unfolding beautifully before our eyes.

Egrets are known as “eco-friendly birds” and are extremely selective about their habitat. Their large-scale settlement here is strong evidence of the continuous improvement in the Yellow River’s ecosystem.

As Luoyang continues to advance ecological protection and high-quality development along the Yellow River, the ecosystem in the Luoyang section of the river has steadily improved year by year, providing an ideal habitat for birds. With rivers flowing peacefully and egrets soaring through the sky, the landscape blends seamlessly into a living painting. These vivid scenes of harmony between humanity and nature are the most beautiful annotations on the canvas of green mountains and clear waters.
