Festive Horses: Luoyang Tri-Color at Heritage Show

Recently, the “Celebrating the New Year – Spring Festival Series Theme Exhibition of the Year of the Horse” at the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum opened, and two works of Luoyang Tri-color Glazed Ceramics, “The Heavenly Horse of the Flourishing Age” and “Fatty Lucky Horse”, were selected for display.

The exhibition takes Spring Festival culture as its main thread and showcases over a hundred intangible cultural heritage projects. The “Ji Yue Hong Tu” exhibition area, where the Luoyang Tri-Color Glazed Ceramics are displayed, centers on the theme of the Year of the Horse and presents various traditional techniques’ interpretations of horse culture.

The two works were jointly created by Zhang Ernao, the sixth-generation inheritor of the Zhangjia Caiyao kiln, and the seventh-generation inheritors Zhang Yipeng and Zhang Penghui. “Shengshi Tianma” is mainly in bright yellow, decorated with green and white spots, and has a vigorous shape; “Fuma Pangpang” adopts a cartoon style, carrying a lucky bag on its back, symbolizing good fortune, and showcases the innovation of intangible cultural heritage in a lively style.

The exhibition will last until March 20th.
