Chang Yangyang: inherit the intangible heritage skills with ingenuity

Recently, in a studio in our city, Chang Yangyang, a representative inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage project Mengjin paper-cut, is making paper-cut creations.

“Paper-cutting is an art that comes from life. Folk paper-cutting artists use scissors to cut out festive scenes and transform pieces of red paper into spiritual power.” Changyangyang introduction, Mengjin paper-cut, commonly known as “ream flower”, belongs to a vein of Henan paper-cut, scissors fall immediately formed, generality and artistic appeal are strong. He grew up in Mengjin village, learning paper cutting from his grandmother since childhood, marriage, farming, temple fair and other local cultural elements, have become the source of his creation.

As a non-genetic inheritor of the post-90s generation, Chang Yangyang said that he would like to inherit the intangible heritage skills with ingenuity, display the works in multiple forms, and let more people know about this folk art treasure.
