Sui-Tang Lantern Festival Revives Imperial Splendor

Reporters learned from the Sui and Tang Luoyang City Scenic Area that the exhibition setup work for the “Shendu Shangyuan Lantern Festival” at the Jiuzhou Pond venue has entered the final sprint stage. This lantern festival takes four major thematic chapters as the thread and deeply integrates the cultural relics elements of the Sui and Tang Luoyang City in the lantern design, aiming to create an immersive viewing experience of “a scene at every step and a history in every lantern”, allowing visitors to feel the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty in the brilliant lights.

Chapter One: Peony Welcoming Phoenix · Lantern Festival Fragrance Listening

The entrance is greeted by the “Golden Lion Bestowing Blessings” lantern group to welcome the new year. The sunken square recreates the essence of the imperial garden of Jiuzhouchi through the “One Pool and Three Mountains” imagery lantern group. The highlight lies in a group of lanterns that gather the shapes of well-known cultural relics such as Tang Tri-color, “Money Cat” figurines, and hand-holding female figurines, resembling a “museum hidden in the lantern fair”.

Chapter Two: Heavenly Horses Carrying Texts · Tracing the Source of the Luo River

This chapter focuses on the culture of the Silk Road. The main light installation in front of the Yao Guang Hall is based on Tang tri-color glazed pottery, presenting scenes of fine horses, court musical instruments, and Silk Road caravans in layers, recreating the grandeur of the Silk Road. There is also a “Queen’s Wardrobe” themed light installation and a Hanfu photo spot on site to enhance the interactive experience.

Chapter Three: Phoenix Hall in Court · Costumes of a Thousand Nations

The design of the lantern group is inspired by Tang Dynasty artifacts such as the phoenix-shaped bronze mirror and square cosmetic box. With the dressing table and bronze mirror as the core elements, it showcases the makeup culture and confident demeanor of Tang Dynasty women.

Chapter Four: Nine Lanes Singing to the Rhythm of Fireworks and Lights

The finale focuses on the integration of technology and culture, featuring a “time and space gate” constructed with laser screens, creating a dialogue between the past and the present. After passing through this area, visitors will enter a corridor of peony-themed lanterns, which naturally leads to the peony garden on the east side.
