Finnish students come to Luoyang to study and experience the archaeology

“Hey, look, it’s a Tang tri-colored pony!” “Teacher! Teacher! Look, I’ve got a camel!” On the afternoon of the July 22nd, under the scorching sun, a group of new students, including several Finnish children with blond hair and blue eyes, were welcomed into the simulated archaeological exploration field of the Luoyang Oriental Museum Research camp.

This group of children are students of the Sino-Finnish Friendship Summer Camp in Luoyang Station. They are conducting a practical course to simulate archaeological excavation. Unlike other summer camps in this camp, its teaching content not only includes explanation and experience of Luoyang’s history and culture, two Finnish teachers share Finnish culture with nearly 30 students to expand their international perspective.

“How time flies, today is our fifth day in Luoyang! Hanfu is really beautiful!” A student from Finland exclaimed. The summer camp lasted six days and five nights. Before that, the students had been to Luoyang famous scenic spots and museums such as Longmen Grottoes, Luoyang Museum, Yingtianmen Ruins Museum and Sui and Tang Grand Canal Culture Museum under the guidance of teacher Zhong Fen. And participated in the Luoyang characteristics of rubbing, blue dyeing and other manual courses to improve the understanding of Luoyang culture.

“I will share with my colleagues what I saw and heard in Luoyang!” A teacher from Finland said excitedly. In her view, the trip to Luoyang benefited her a lot, especially a lot of wooden buildings in Luoyang she was very interested in, in these wooden buildings, she quite a sense of crossing. In the course, she also shared the wooden structure house in a small town in Finland with the students in the summer camp, and explained the importance of sustainable cultural development, calling on everyone to do a good job in the protection of cultural relics and culture.
