Guo Rongyi, born in the post-2000s generation, is the fourth-generation successor of the intangible cultural heritage project of Sancai glaze painting firing techniques. She comes from a family of Sancai art and has been learning from Guo Aihuo, a master of Sancai glaze painting and a national master of arts and crafts, since childhood. Through relentless efforts, her works have won awards multiple times.
Sancai glaze painting involves dozens of meticulous processes, including shaping, raw firing, raising lines, glazing, and firing, to transform ordinary clay into splendid artworks. With the relentless research and innovation of the successors, the glaze colors of Sancai have expanded from the initial ten or so to over a thousand varieties today.
Guo Rongyi is well aware that the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage is not only about passing on traditional culture but also requires innovation and breakthroughs. She infuses youthful elements into the inheritance and development of Sancai glaze painting, breathing new vitality and energy into this ancient craft in the new era.
